Rodeo Church- 1/21/11 O’Brien’s
When I asked Rodeo Church front man Adam Young where his band calls home, he simply smiled and responded, “we walked to the show tonight.” Rodeo Church weren’t the only locals to make the snowy trek to O’Brien’s on Friday night either. As a matter of fact, it seemed as though the whole neighborhood came out to witness first-hand what all the buzz is about surrounding the Allston quartet.
O’Brien’s is a phenomenal spot to stay ahead of the game when it comes to local music. They book some great punk bands, they know what’s up when it comes to the Boston music scene, and the atmosphere in general is very informal and personable. Friday night, Rodeo Church was sandwiched on the bill between local folkateers Mornin’ Old Sport and Edward Sharpe sound-alikes The Red River. The bar hit capacity by the time Rodeo Church took the stage and they went right to work. Kicking the set off with the anthemic “Miserable,” the band went from zero to sixty in an instant and set an energy level that was high from the start, but would only continue to grow as the set progressed.
Two Weeks - Grizzly Bear
This is my theme song for my recovery. It’s really easy to get frustrated and depressed with being so incapacitated, so I’m setting all my goals two weeks at a time.
A little over two weeks ago I was sleeping off the anesthesia after six and a half hours of surgery.
Yesterday I got my cast off, Today I’m already feeling improvement as far as finger movement goes, (at least with typing.)
Two weeks from now I hope to have regained more strength in my hand, be able to pull my hair back by myself, and bend my arm all the way.
(I forgot to tell you guys there’s quite a bit of nerve damage going on, so my hand is all effed up.)
So that’s my plan.
And though your opened eyes stare/ bored upon the overflowing pipes above me/ tonight/ I don’t mind/ cause I never wonder/ how the girl feels
Jersey Girl by Mornin’ Old Sport
Mornin’ Old Sport is a band which is buddies with my brother’s band. Most of this video was shot in my brother’s house in Allston, with the exception of the stairwell/girl’s bedroom part.
The immaculately clean bathroom is technically in my brother’s house, too! It’s his upstairs neighbor’s bathroom.
Said upstairs neighbor, Dan Foley, directed and edited the video.
The broski, his girlfriend and his bandmates make cameos! My brother is the one in the green flannel and knit cap.
Warning: The general theme of the video is pretty dark. It kind of bothered me at first until I talked about it with Adam and realized that things were not quite what they seemed.
Harlem- Gay Human Bones
Funky summertime jamz! Thank you, Gorilla vs Bear!
The Pains of Being Pure at Heart: Young Adult Friction
This is a song about losing your virginity in a library.
I feel a special connection to it because I work in a library.
And have sex there.
JUST KIDDING! THAT IS A JOKE I AM JUST KIDDING! J/K, Y’ALL!

The Rodeo Church, Very Loud!
Oh, by the way, here is a song by my brother’s band.
